2nd Assistant Chief

Joseph Nemier

Assistant Chief Joe Nemier has over 20 years of experience in emergency services. Prior to joining the ranks of the Tully Hose Co.#1, he was a member of the Nedrow Fire Department, where he began his fire service career following in the footsteps of his late Grandfather (Syracuse FD retired) and his father (Nedrow FD Past Chief). Chief Nemier is a National Pro Board certified Fire and Emergency Service Instructor (FESI-1). He is currently involved in many associations and groups throughout the state and county. He is the President of the New York State Association of Fire Safety Educators (NY-SAFE), Director for the Onondaga County Volunteer Firefighters Association (OCVFA), and a Fire Advisory Board member for Onondaga County. He also is the Vice President of the Southern Section Line Officers Association of Onondaga County.

Outside of the Tully Hose Co.#1, Chief Nemier is a Risk Management Training Specialist for McNeil and Company, where he specializes in developing educational training presentations to teach fire and emergency service clients across the the United States via webinars and E-Learning online courses. Through his work, Chief Nemier co-instructs various training courses including the Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) and the national FARMEDIC training program. He is also a NYS Defensive Driver Instructor. When he is not working, he enjoys to travel and attend sporting events and music concerts with his longtime girlfriend.
